CAMBODIA MISSIONS
Cambodia is located in Southeast Asia and borders Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Although now the ruling government operates as a constitutional monarchy with a parliament and prime minister, Cambodia is most famous for the communist regime of the Khmer Rouge, which slaughtered millions Cambodians in the 1970s.
Up to 3 million Cambodians were murdered by the Khmer Rouge and their corrupt leader, Pol Pot, many in the "Killing Fields." Thousands escaped from death to come to the United States for the freedom they could not find in their own country.
Currently, Cambodia has a population of over 14 million, most of them in lower-income brackets, although per capita income is rising. Rice is a staple, along with fish. Cambodia has a dry season and a rainy season, with tropical monsoons typical during the rainy season.
Southwest Radio Ministries is supporting Dr. Heng Lim, an immigrant from Cambodia, now an American citizen and dentist in Oklahoma.
According to his autobiography, My Journey to Paradise, Dr. Lim survived the brutal Khmer Rouge regime and came to the United States. Although he arrived with only a second-grade education, Dr. Lim took advantage of this country's educational opportunities and has become a very successful dentist. Once a Buddhist without hope, Dr. Lim also eventually became a Christian and through Jesus Christ, was able to forgive those who killed and tortured his friends and family.
Now Dr. Lim has a great burden for the Cambodian people, returning to the country of his birth on missions trips, winning thousands of souls to Christ. You can learn more about Dr. Lim's ministry to the Cambodian people by watching the Mission Khmer DVD.
Mission Khmer DVD complimentary with a gift of any amount for Cambodia Missions.
