MISSIONS IN SUDAN AND BURMA
SUDAN MISSIONS
When Rev. Noah Hutchings started working for Southwest Radio Church in 1951, he wrote a check to Sudan Interior Missions for $100,000 - equivalent to $1 million today. The Christians who are currently being persecuted by Muslims in Sudan are the children and grandchildren of those who accepted Christ at mission stations supported by Southwest Radio Church.
Today, Christians in Sudan are being killed, their homes burned, Christian women are being raped, and children are being kidnapped and tortured, all by Muslims with the tacit approval of the Sudanese government.
The widespread killing has been termed by many as mass genocide which has resulted in almost 400,000 dead with many more being displaced.
Some have managed to escape to Egypt and Israel where they are existing in small villages, but their condition is desperate. Funds are needed for food, clothing and educational facilities for adults and children.

BURMA MISSIONS (MYANMAR)
Burma, now called Myanmar, is an Asian country of over 53,000,000 people. Almost 90% of the population is Buddhist, with only about 4% claiming to be Christian, and the rest are either Muslim or animist.
Burma is sandwiched between India in the west and China and Thailand in the east. Since gaining independence from Great Britain in 1948, the country has suffered tremendously from almost constant internal conflict and strife, with few periods of stability.
Burma is currently ruled by a military junta, which does not allow elections or any democratic reforms. Demonstrations by students and the general public have been followed by violent crackdowns by the military, resulting in the massacre of hundreds.
Buddhism is the official state religion. Journalists have reported on Christian persecution in Burma, including the destruction of churches and forced conversion of Christians to Buddhism.

Milk and Honey Ministries of Wichita, Kansas, maintain Christian schools in Burma under the most extreme circumstances. This past year, several of the teachers in this school were sentenced to death and escaped only by God's grace. Funds are greatly needed to maintain these schools.
