Let the peace of God rule

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Colossians 3:15

Scripture tells us a man’s heart is desperately wicked, and who can know it? How many times have we heard people say, “I don’t know where that came from or why that happened?” This happens because when we live within ourselves, we walk under the power of unpredictable flesh.

It seems as if tension, tightness, and pressure continue to escalate more and more. You don’t have to be at work, in town, or even at church very long until you hear conversations filled with discontentment, disillusion, and displeasure. Dissatisfaction seems to be on every side

Worry lingers at every desk, line, and pew. It’s like the little boy who was awakened under the tree by a falling apple. He made the declaration the sky was falling without looking into anything in his surroundings to have a better understanding of what really happened, which was the apple was ripe and ready to eat.  This seems to be the mindset of the world we live in today. People are living on edge, unnerved and worried. Without looking into anything we fill our day with conversations full of misinformation, only bringing undue stress to our lives, workplaces, churches, and families.

Paul gives us the secret to happiness. LET THE PEACE OF GOD RULE YOUR LIFE! Stop. Quit running with the apple and spreading disillusionment. What are you letting rule your life, conversation, work place, church pew, pulpit, and home?  It is a choice as to what we walk under, discuss, and entertain.  Paul chose to dwell in the peace of God. Did not our savior say in John 14:27, “My peace I give unto you?” It is free. Take it, use it, and walk in it.

Our prayer for you this week: May you change what has the power over you by walking in the peace of God.
