The Ability of God!

| Josh Shields

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. —Ephesians 3:20-21

Talking to the Ephesian Church, Paul pens an unbelievable statement about the workings of our God. No other God has ever had this said of them: “UNTO HIM THAT IS ABLE TO DO EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK.”

Look at the greatness of our God. If the comma was after “exceeding,” it would change the context of the ability of God. The comma comes after the word “think.” Now look again at the statement. GOD exceeds abundantly. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines “abundantly” as:

1: existing or occurring in large amounts: AMPLE

2 a: marked by great plenty (as of resources)

b: amply supplied: ABOUNDING

Do we actually realize what we have at our disposal? It does not stop there. It works according to the power that worketh in us. Not just me, but the power of the collective body.

Now, we understand the word of Jesus in Matthew 18:18-20, “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

Could it be what is holding the exceeding power of God back is our ability to work together?

Our prayer for you this week: May you come to know the EXCEEDING power of God that is released when we walk in agreement together.
