A Blessed Life

| Josh Shields

Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. –1 Peter 3:8-9

We have just come through the Christmas season, celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. For the sake of argument, I am well aware this is not the time of year Christ was born. However, it is the time men have set aside to celebrate. It’s amazing during this season how we fill our writings to others, whether it be family or friend, with fluff trying to convince the world how good we are.

But within one week of celebrating Christmas, we now enter a time of reflection. We approach a time of new beginnings, a new year, forced to take time to reflect on oneself. Can I ask you to consider something this year? In your time of consideration, ask yourself, was I as blessed last year as I could have been? I imagine your answer would be one like mine, no! If I ask you, do you want to be blessed this year? I am sure the answer would be yes.

Do you realize that the Apostle Peter left us a letter explaining that we are called to inherit a blessing? Do you understand how powerful that statement is? In other words, the right to be blessed has been left to you through the will of God. Now, how do we receive our inheritance?

  • Have compassion on one another.
  • Be pitiful (tender-hearted).
  • Be courteous.
  • Don’t render evil for evil, or railing for railing.
  • Bless, that you might receive what you have been called to receive, an inherited blessing.
  • Our prayer for you this week:

Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize the power of your inheritance, a blessed life
