What Is The Will Of God For Me?
See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. —1 Thessalonians 5:15-18
Over the years, I have heard many people ask the question, “WHAT IS THE WILL OF GOD FOR ME?” First, to come to that conclusion, one must know what the word “will” means.
The word “will” can refer to the power of the mind to make decisions or choices, as well as a legal document that specifies how a person’s possessions should be distributed after their death. It can also express a desire or intention to do.
Paul left some writings addressed to the church at Thessalonica. In these letters, he says the will of God that was impressed upon Paul by God—through the Holy Ghost—to write. The great thing is you don’t have to have a lawyer or go through probate to find out what the will of God is for you.
- Rejoice evermore. The prefix “re” is most often used in conjunction with a verb, meaning “to do this action over and over again.” What is the last request of Jesus? For His people to have joy over and over and over again.
- Pray without ceasing. In other words, God never gets tired of hearing your request. You have the right to be in continual conversation with God. Again, this is at His request, so take advantage of it.
- In every thing, give thanks. It’s amazing how God wants us to live a life of Thanksgiving. Not just on a Thursday once a year in November, but every day of our life should be a time of thanksgiving for all He has done for us.
Our prayer for you this week: May you learn to take the time to fulfill the three requests God left for each of us in His will.
