The Counsel of the Lord
For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.
The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Psalm 33:9-11
What powerful words of insight are given to us through the praise of the Psalmist. How much more encouraging could an author be than to say, “For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.” Wow! I could jump up and shout. Why? Because we complicate things. We muddy the waters and distort the clarity of God’s word.
“He commanded, and it stood fast.” Do you realize from before the beginning of the world, the magnificence of our solar system, galaxies, and planets have floated on the word of God. As Psalm 113:3 states, “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.” Psalm 19:1-3 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.”
You may be in a war battling against the heathen, disease, distress, or even against the cold breath of death. Today, be encouraged. Do as the Psalmist said do in Psalm 100, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize the counsel of the Lord stands forever.
