Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Song of Solomon 8:6
It lives quietly behind the façade of happy. It disregards what anyone else thinks. Unable to hide, nor can it be hidden no matter the disguise it is put behind. The cruelty of it is unmatchable. Nothing will take one lower in life than this will, consuming, destroying, annihilating, eradicating, suffocating, eliminating, exterminating, and obliterating anything and everything in the proximity it dwells in.
This giant will devour its own. The animalistic instinct it brings out of a human is more than disgusting. It is the breeding ground for lying, greed, deceit, murder, lasciviousness, unruliness, adultery, fornication, drunkenness, backbiting, depression, low self-esteem, and poor judgment. It invites unhealthy relationships to your door and associations you never thought you would be hanging around. It creates the inability to remove yourself from leach like parasites because unhappiness wants nothing more than misery in your life also.
This mammoth never promotes light. It promotes darkness. Like a time traveler moving from one realm of time to another, from dispensation to dispensation, the problem leaps from shadow to shadow. It leaves the footprints of despisement in every thought, tormenting the vessel housing it. No one, no household, ethnicity, culture, nationality, country, state, city, province, parish, parishioner, pastor, doctor, lawyer, business owner, labor, man, woman, boy, nor girl is exempt. Age does not diminish the hold it has on you. Science calls it an emotion. Scripture declares it is a spirit, “JEALOUSY.”
This spirit is so evil scripture likened it to the grave. The grave has no respect. It will take in anything from youth to elderly, beautiful, ugly, in shape, out of shape, dirty, clean, thin, overweight, rich, and poor. It does not matter. The grave will swallow it up and so will jealousy.
