God has Reconciled you!
“And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”
Colossians 1:20
Reconcile means to reestablish a close relationship with, to settle or resolve, to brings (oneself) to accept.
Why is it we doubt the forgiveness of God when we falter, fail, or fall causing us to miss the mark? What do I mean by doubt the forgiveness of God? We have a tendency to say God has forgiven me, and then we scuffle, skirmish, scrap, and brawl within ourselves to deal with what we have done.
I, too, at times have done this very thing. We come up short with God in our relationship. We then repent, turn around, do an about face, and continue on trying to live for Christ, only to struggle with our own stupidity and why we allowed ourselves to come up short.
Those of you reading this today maybe struggling with the very same thing the rest of us have, self-forgiveness. Here is something to consider. When did you and your thoughts become more powerful than God’s thoughts? When we say God has forgiven us, and then we wrestle to say I have to forgive myself, it is as if we are saying our forgiveness is more powerful than His.
Paul wrote to the church at Colossae and said God reconciled all things unto Himself by Christ. If you have made things right with God, then realize you cannot get reconciliation from anyone higher, especially not yourself. Start practicing another writing of Paul’s. Philippians 3:13-14 says, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize when God has reconciled you, that is all you need.
