His Wonderful Works

| Josh Shields

“He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion.” Psalm 111:4

What a statement, “He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered.”  Looking out our dining room window this morning at the sunrise bouncing off the golden meadow, across the way at the mountains surrounding our home, my mind immediately went to Psalm 8:4, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?”

Looking at all of God’s creation and the majestic wonders He has, is, and will perform, I stand in awe as the Psalmist, when he penned Psalm 139:14, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

You, my friend, have been wonderfully made. You are a wondrous work of God. Your life should never be average, beneath, or below. We should never be satisfied with the mundane, ordinary, routine, everyday complacency.  You are an individual prized possession to God intended to leave a mark on history. The wiseman penned Proverbs 13:22, “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.” The word inheritance here means a mode of decent, a way out, prepared to make the journey ahead. The greatest thing you can leave your children is a way of escape from this present world, JESUS.

From this day forward, may you greet the sunrise different than the days before. Inside of you are greatness, innovative, groundbreaking ideas, and a pioneering spirit to blaze new trails reaching untapped promise. But, most of all, you have the opportunity to remind everyone around you, from your children to your friends and clients of John 3:17, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize just how wonderful God made you. You can make a difference.
