It is all About Jesus

| Josh Shields

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS:
for he shall save his people from their sins. —Matthew 1:21

I know Christmas is not the actual time Christ was born. However, it is the time set aside when men, women, boys, and girls celebrate the birth of the Messiah, Jesus the Christ.
Take a journey with me back, if you would for a moment, to the day when you would window shop. Most people today don’t even know what I am referring to. I’m talking about walking down the street, looking in the store front, and day dreaming at the display in the window. You would see the TV playing, of course it was black and white. The train would be going around the Christmas tree, and there it was, the bicycle, doll, or BB gun you had asked for. You knew it was a long shot, because most homes had a single income. Dad worked, and mom stayed home to take care of the kids.
If you ponder this for a while, you can almost feel the breeze that blew down the street, the gentle snow flurries that would glide along the top of the sidewalk, and smell the burning of fireplaces in the air. If you get quiet, you can hear something that brings you back to reality of what the season is all about.
The sound of carolers in the distance singing, “O holy night, the stars are brightly shining, it is the night of the dear Savior’s birth.” Or, “Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, the little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head,” “Angels we have heard on high,” or, “Come, they told me, pa-rum-pum, pum-pum, A newborn King to see.” That is what brings us back to reality. It is not about the TV, train, doll, or bicycle. It is about our Savior.
Our prayer for you this week: May you come to remember it is all about Jesus.
