“His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
Matthew 25:23
Matthew records an account in history that is taught as a common Sunday school story. Folks, this is not just a Sunday school story. This is an unbelievable truth that has been discounted that can perform something revolutionary in your life.
Why is it Abraham was so blessed when he lied to the King about Sarah being his sister instead of his wife? How is it Moses was blessed after having murdered a man? How could Noah be so blessed, having crossed the flood, become drunken on the wine from his own vineyard? What about David and his actions with Bathsheba and her husband Uriah? How about Elijah having fear after his greatest victory? Let’s add in John the Baptist asking in Matthew 11:3, “Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?” One more, what about Peter denying Jesus?
All these men had a moment in yesterday. Aren’t you glad to know God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow? I am not giving anyone a license to sin. What I am telling you is all of these men knew a key to the Kingdom of God, faithfulness. I can’t do anything about my yesterday, but I can repent and invest today.
Notice what Jesus says. The lord in the parable tells the servant thou hast been faithful over a little, I will make you a ruler over much. What God rewards is not perfection. It is faithfulness, the ability to trust him daily, taking what we have been given and doing the best we can with it to see a return for His Kingdom.
