The Doorpost of Your Life
And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. Exodus 12:13
How far off will we get before we realize we are headed down the wrong path? Let me explain the intent of my question. Just because I own a basketball does not make me an NBA star, neither does owning a football make me an NFL legend. I may own a muscle car but that does not make me a NASCAR lore.
Just because you have a cross around your neck, on your bracelet, anklet, or tattooed on your body somewhere does not make you a believer. It may symbolize something you admire, respect, think about, and/or even believe happened, but that does not make you a believer, follower, or for lack of better terms, a Christian.
When deliverance came to the children of Israel in Egypt, which was a type of things to come, each house had to get a lamb, cook it, consume it as instructed, and apply the blood to their doorpost. When the death angel passed over, he would pass over their house and spare the first born.
May I ask, do you really know what this weekend, Easter, is about? It is about the opportunity for you to apply the blood of the Lamb to your heart. It is not just a profession, confession, or cross about your neck, wrist, or ankle. It is that the blood has been applied to your heart through true repentance, turning, an about face, a change of heart, and life at an altar of repentance. But wait, there’s more! It doesn’t stop there. Have your sins been washed away, having been baptized in the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize the importance of the Blood of the Lamb being applied to the doorpost of your life.
