The Hope of Glory

| Josh Shields

Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Colossians 1:26-27

Recently, I went on a side-by-side ride down in the mountains just south of where we live here in the beautiful Ozarks. The terrain we were riding, as beautiful as it was, was also rugged, secluded, isolated, and uninhabited to say the least. Looking back, there were things I should have had with me, things for my own safety that never crossed my mind to take, such as a plug kit and a small air tank. While I did have extra gas, which was great, these other two things would have been ideal to have along as well.

This journey reminds me so much of our walk with God. While some do not think it is needful, trust me, you are not going to go far without it. See, in the ride I was on, those of us in the journey all had one invisible thing with us that we were riding on, AIR in our tires. No matter where we went in our journey, nor how rugged it got, we were all riding on tires full of something you could not see.

So many believers have it wrong. We talk about the Holy Spirit getting on us and what we feel. However, it is not about what gets on you; it matters what is in you. On our ride, if we had had a flat, what we would have needed was all around us. We could feel it, but if it was not in the tires, it was of no use.

Our prayer for you this week:  May you come to be full of the Holy Ghost, having the Hope of Glory in you, not on you.
