The Power of Expectation!

| Josh Shields

And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. (Acts 3:5)

Expectation: a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future. This verse of Scripture comes from an account in history that is taught to us in Sunday school from the time we are able to sit long enough to hear it. The lame man that daily was carried to the gate called Beautiful.  How many times do you think it crossed his mind to stay put, to not go? Like so many, he could’ve suffered from the “it’s no use” syndrome. Take note of how Scripture says he looked at Peter and John – with expectation.

There is an old saying, “You get what you are looking for.” The prospector never found the vein of gold without first panning, mining, picking, or shoveling. He was looking for it. What it is you are in need of, looking for, and desiring to happen in your life? Are you in need of healing, a cure, or a miracle? What about a breakthrough physically, socially, psychologically, or economically? Could it be a relationship with your kids, mother, father, or spouse that needs healing or a turnaround in your career, business, or church?

Maybe you feel like quitting. Just like the man at the gate called Beautiful. Do you realize the difference one day, conversation, handshake, encounter, or prayer can make in your life? If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again. Greet this day differently than yesterday. Get up and dress like a prospect, not a suspect. You have to first see it, believe it, and walk it out. Pick up the phone, attend the meeting, run the business, and approach the pulpit with expectation.

Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize  coupled with the name above all names, Jesus Christ.
