But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6
Faith is a fragile thing. It is the one thing believers seem to find so quickly, but on the other hand lose so fast. It seems to be harder to hold on to the older we get in Christ, when in reality our faith should be gaining strength every day.
It is easy to have faith when you are young in Christ, yet just like life, when we grow up, mature, develop, and settle in, we seem to become skeptical with the attitude of you must prove everything to me. It is then we begin to struggle, war, and wrestle with a thing called doubt. Who said growing up was so fun? While it has perks, the challenges are just as severe. It is now we begin to question our faith, finding ourselves in a constant battle trying to please Him, caught in a tug of war between faith and doubt.
If we would evaluate our lives, ninety-nine percent of our answers would be the same. The main difference in our lives now and then? The lack of God’s Word. We have become too busy for church, too busy for devotion time with us and God. Scripture is plain on how to keep your faith current. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Verse 14 says, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” Scripture tells us not to be hearers only, but doers. So, how can we be doers without faith and have faith without hearing? “And without faith, it is impossible.”
