“A STONE” between you and your goal
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
James 4:2
Mark 16 records the journey of Mary Magdalene, and Mary, the mother of James and Salome, as they came early in the morning to the sepulcher with sweet spices to anoint Jesus. They asked, “Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulcher?” Then, Matthew 28:2 records, “Behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.”
Luke says they found, and John said they saw the stone was rolled away.
James said there are things you want, desire, and even lust after. In fact, he went so far as to say, we kill and cannot obtain it. We woke up this morning ready to fight and go to war for things we are trying to obtain economically, spiritually, and physically. Yet with all the connections, thought power, strength, and stamina we can muster up, we still fail to reach or obtain our goal.
Maybe you feel like these ladies. You have places to be, things to do, customers, friends, and relatives you need to reach, but there are obstacles, hindrances, problems, difficulties, hurdles, hitches, and impediments, “A STONE” between you and your goal.
Who is going to move it for you?
James said, “Ye have not, because ye ask not!” May I make a suggestion? Maybe it is time to stop, take a moment, and simply ask for intervention. What could it hurt? You’ve tried everything else. How hard is it to simply ask who is going to roll away this obstacle from my life? Mary and Mary did, and what they thought they were going to encounter was never a problem.
Our prayer for you this week: May you find the courage to simply ask for help in moving the obstacles in your life.
