The Peace of God

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. — Philippians 4:7
Paul exhorting the church at Philippi, tells them of the supernatural power of the peace of God. Peace that passes not some or a little, but all understanding. Notice another thing that is said here, not “a” peace but “the” peace of God. There is not another, nor is there a counterfeit. The true peace of God comes straight from the throne of God.
This peace that comes from God will keep your heart and mind. No wonder Paul wrote Timothy saying, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). Isaiah said it like this, “For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem” (Isaiah 66:12-13).
Matthew 23:37 says, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!”
Do you really realize where Jesus wants you to live? What is bothering you today? What are you facing? What devastating news, problem, or situation has recently come your way? As the scripture says in Philippians 4:6-7, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Our prayer for you this week: May you come to enjoy the river, stream, comfort, and even the covering of the wings of Christ Jesus our Lord, His peace.
