The power in these swaddling clothes

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:7

This week can we take another look at what is in these swaddling clothes?

On his mother’s side he is an infant, on his father’s side he is from everlasting to everlasting, the creation and creator, flesh and blood, and the spirit of God.  In these clothes is the lamb for sinners slain, the lion of the tribe of Judah, son of man, and the son of God.  Born in Bethlehem is the temple that houses the fullness of the Godhead, the servant, and the High Priest.  The student, the teacher, the sacrifice, and giver of life.  The priest being baptized, the scape goat, redeemer of mankind, and the searcher of the heart.

In Matthew, the Messiah; Mark, the miracle worker; Luke, the Son of Man; John, Son of God; Acts, the ascended Lord; Romans, the justifier; 1 & 2 Corinthians, the last Adam.  Galatians, the one who sets us free; Ephesians, the Christ of riches; Philippians, the God who meets our every need; Colossians, the fullness of the Godhead bodily.  1 & 2 Thessalonians, the soon coming King; 1 & 2 Timothy, the mediator between God and man.  Titus, the Blessed Hope; Philemon, the friend closer than a brother.  Hebrews, the blood that washes away my sins; James, the Great Physician; and in 1 & 2 Peter, the Chief Shepherd.  1, 2, 3 John, everlasting love; Jude, the God and Savior; Revelation, the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Alpha, Omega, beginning, and ending.  Which is, which was, which is to come, the Almighty.

Philippians 2:9-10 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.

Our prayer for you this week: May you realize the power in these swaddling clothes –JESUS!
