Prophecy in the News Magazine Issue #32 – Beyond the Canon: Lost Books, Hidden Truths

In this expanded edition, we meet a whole cast of characters that we may never have heard of before. They lived and wrote books that they may have felt were inspired by God nearly 2,000 years ago, not long after Jesus’ death and resurrection – and while they have not be forgotten, their writings were not included in today’s Bible. There’s Tobit and Tanya, Jasher and Judith, Esdras, Bel, Baruch, Susanna and Aristeas, and some of whom you have heard, such as Paul, Thomas, Solomon, Barnabas and even Pilate. Ignatius of Antioch, considered a saint, wrote numerous epistles. All – rejected. 

We are honored to include articles and excerpts from scholars and Bible teachers from around the world, many considered top experts in their fields. 

Dr. Lonnie Shipman, Dr. Larry Spargimino, Micah Van Huss and Mac Dominick adopt and address varying perspectives on these “lost books,”many of which are new to most evangelical churchgoers. Dr. Loren Stuckenbruck, Dr. Ron Rhodes and Larry Stamm add to our understanding of various errors and miraculous aspects of “many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore.” (Was Poe perchance referring to the “lost books?”) 

We also include a dab of trivia, because we can only fit so many fascinating facts into this complex puzzle of historical faith literature. So, we have included numerous asides or tidbits from other scholars to add to the vast picture of extra-biblical resources.
